Tuesday 19th May 2020

Day 22

We have had a very action-packed day today creating some very exciting things!

We began the day as usual with some calm colouring, before completing our maths work and eating our snacks outside before having our break.

We then spent time in our year groups for English where some excellent work was produced! Everyone worked really hard and this was shown in the work.

After the work and lunch were completed, we began recording our version of ‘The Lockdown Song’. Everyone sang beautifully and performed beautifully. We cannot wait to see how the video comes out!

Finally we made our way up to the field to spend some time in OPAL play in the sunshine. We even recreated some film scenes!

It has been a wonderful day and we are all looking forward to what tomorrow brings.

Monday 18th May 2020

Day 21

Today, we started off with some quiet reading whilst we waited for everyone to arrive. We, then split into our year groups and worked through the Maths we had been set by our teachers. After working so hard, the adults decided that it would be a good idea for us to move around a bit so we took part in the daily Joe Wickes PE session. It was really hard and there were some moves that we found tricky.

After washing our hands and eating our snack, we went outside to play. We stayed out for a while as it was lovely weather. When we went back in we had to complete the English work that we had been set by our year groups. It was great though because there were only two of us to an adult. Towards the end of this session we decided that we would have lunch outside. Some mats were taken out for us to sit on in the playground.

   

After playing outside for a while, we came in and tidied up all the work we had done in the morning. We then listened to two stories that Mrs Thomas read to us. They were 'The Tiger Who came to Tea' and 'Lions and Unicorns'.

As it was such a nice day outside we went out on the field to play with the Opal play equipment. We really enjoyed using our imaginations to play games togetyher. Finally, we came in from the field we sat down to watch 'Playmobil, The Movie' until our parents picked us up.

Friday 15th May 2020

Day 20

The morning began with some colouring and reading while we waited for everyone to arrive.

We then did some maths. Some of us did STOPs problem solving and others practised their Doodle Maths on Ipads. It was fun trying to reach green!

We had a break and went outside for a while. We played on the scooters and some of us played ball.

When we came back in, we all did some English work. Some people were writing up haikus, some were getting ideas for story writing and others were answering questions about comprehension texts. Year 5 were making story maps for non-fiction texts.

Next it was lunch and we had some more fun time outside.

After lunch, we watched a video on how to draw and colour to give a 3D effect. Some of our drawings looked really good!

After we had tidied all the pencils and paper away, we went  outside again. We collected up all the yellow trikes and put them all away down near the Reception classes. Then we collected watering cans and made sure all the young plants growing in the allotment had a good drink! We were amazed  at how much is growing now. We spotted peas, rhubarb, blackcurrants, carrots, strawberries and herbs – rosemary, thyme, sage and mint. 

We stayed for a while in the allotment as it was warm and sunny and a lovely place to lie in the grass and daydream for a few minutes, although some of us had fun doing army manoeuvres!

We played outside in the sunshine playing tennis and on scooters, before heading off home.

Thursday 14th May 2020

Day 19

We started the day by playing Maths games on the iPads before having a run around outside while we waited for everyone to arrive.

At 9:30am, we started our Maths on E-Schools. There was a big variety of learning going on which included fractions, area and addition. We all worked very hard and at 10.30 am we went out for our snacks and break time.

After break time we came back inside and completed our English lessons from E-Schools. Again, there was a big variety of writing going on. Some of the work included book reviews, newspaper reports, Haiku poems and proof read work we had completed previously.

After we ate our lunch, started off by reading, some read independently while others listened to stories that were being read by an adult. Finally, we went onto the field and played with the OPAL equipment. Some of did an obstacle course while others built a den!

Wednesday 13th May 2020

Day 18

We started the day watching the Lego Movie as we waited for everyone to arrive. Some of us decided to draw, some went outside to play and two children decided to make a comfy bed for their cat (they brought in a box especially!)

At 9:30am, we started our Maths and worked through the learning on E-Schools. We all worked extremely hard in our small groups and were definitely ready for our break at 10:30am!

We enjoyed being outside, despite it being a bit chillier today compared to previous days. Afterwards, we re-joined our small groups and began working through our English work.

After we ate our lunch, some of us decided to do some work in the allotment, whilst the others played in the forest school area. As we later grew tired, we decided to come inside to relax and do some art work whilst watching ‘The Emperor’s New Groove’.

Tuesday 12th May 2020

Day 17

We started the day by doing some colouring and quiet reading whilst we waited for everyone to arrive. At 9:30am we started our Maths. Some year groups were finding equivalent fractions whilst others were doing multiplication and comparing lengths. By 10:30am we were definitely ready for our break! We ate our snacks outside and then played tennis on the playground or played on the scooters.

We came back in to start on our English work. Some year groups were writing paragraphs or making story maps whilst the Year 3s were creating adjective word banks! After we ate our lunch and had some more time on the playground, we came in and practised singing ‘Looking to the Rainbow – The Lockdown Song’. We joined in and some of us even started to think of some dance moves to go with it. We are going to sing it again next week and record it!

Afterwards we went up to the field to play with the OPAL equipment and played some football too. Then we came back to the hall where we tried to find something in the hall that began with every letter of the alphabet – we really struggled with some of the letters! We finished the day by having a game of volleyball on the playground and one match was teachers vs children! We had so much fun today that we forgot to take pictures!

Monday 11th May 2020

Day 16

Today we had more childen in than we have before on a Monday but we kept busy and had some fun at the same time. We started off the day doing some reading and some of us read to the adults that were in as well. We did this while the adults set up and organised our Maths

work for the day. The adults put us into our year groups as much as they could and we worked with an adult to help us to complete the tasks that had been set by our teachers. After Maths we completed some of the Joe Wicks PE and had our snack before we went out to play. Some of the teachers did show us how far two metres was. It was a lot further apart than we thought!

After play, we continued working in our year groups to complete the English work set for our year group. We worked with the same adult again. Once we had finished, we played a game with Mrs Bowery so that our tables could be cleaned down in time for lunch. We ate our lunch together and then went out to play.

At the end of our playtime, we came in and did some Music. We started off by moving to the tune of Mamma Mia and then we started to learn to sing the song. After a while we changed song to Living on a prayer and had the change to show off our excellent air guitar moves.

We then went out on the field to play with the Opal equipment where we created dens, slides and obstacle courses but it was quite chilly up there. When we went back to the Gems Hall we watched a programme called Deadly 60. It was a special all about rhinos. They said that rhinos can weigh move than one tonne which is huge! We then had a story read to us by Mr Pinchbeck and went out to the forrest area to play for a while longer. As the day was coming to an end we sat down and watched James and the Giant Peach.
