Friday 8th May 2020

Day 15

Today we played outside whilst waiting for the other children to arrive. We played on scooters and had races. After playing outside we came in and did some doodle maths on the iPads.

Then we had our snacks and play time outside, some of us made some lovely chalk drawings on the playground. We even created a road using the chalks and then followed it with the scooters taking care to look at the road markings.

As today marks the 75^th anniversary of VE Day we discussed what this meant, held the 2 minute silence at 11am and created bunting. We also learnt the words to the song “We’ll meet again” and performed this by the piano as Mrs Bashford played the music.

 

In the afternoon, we went on to the field for a mini sports day. We learned how to throw the javelin, S and A were amazing at this, before trying to jump hurdles without knocking any over. Finally we played a game of rounders where N managed to hit the ball half the length of the field.

 

When we came back in Mrs Adlam tested everyone’s knowledge of flags before home.

Thursday 7th May 2020

Day 14

Today we played outside whilst waiting for the other children to arrive. We played on scooters and had races. After playing outside we came in and did our E-schools learning.

We started with Maths. Across the years we covered a lot of areas of Maths including problem solving, perimeter, multiplication, three digit by 1 digit division, adding by counting on and adding and subtracting in ones!

Then we had our snacks and play time outside, some of made some lovely chalk drawings on the playground. We came back inside to complete English after. We had a mixture of story writing, letter writing and writing instructions. Everyone worked really hard and produced some lovely writing.

A couple of us went outside and made some Stone Age tools for materials we could find on the playground!

It was then lunchtime and as it was nice we ate outside on the Patch. We then had some time to play. After lunch, we came inside and learnt about VE day by going through a PowerPoint to understand what VE day is. Then we went to our tables and coloured in Union Jacks and made some paper Spitfires!

Wednesday 6th May 2020

Day 13

Today we played outside whilst waiting for the other children to arrive. We played on scooters and some of us played lava monster. After playing outside we came in and did our eschools learning.

In year 6 we did problem solving using a bar model and in year 5 we did division with remainders. In year 3 we were the column method to subtract money. In Year 1 we were learning about sharing objects and numbers.  

Then we had play time outside. It was nice and sunny we spent a little bit of time building and obstacle course on the ramp. Then we came back inside to complete English. Year 2,3 and 4 did descriptive writing related to their topics. Year 1 wrote instructions on how to make a healthy sandwich. Year 5 and 6 were writing the next instalments of their text using some impressive vocabulary! 

By this time we were pretty hungry and gobbled up our lunches before heading to the field for some exercise! Some of us were busy making dens out of the quipment. We had a short rest inside playing on the laptops (it was really hot outside!) before going to the allotment. We kept ourselves busy by repotting the water melons, planting some onions, and tying the peas to canes. It was amazing how much our plants had all grown after the rain last week!

We were having so much fun today, that we forgot to take lots of photos!

Tuesday 5th May 2020

Day 12

We have had a lovely day and have tried to spend lots of time outside! We started the day with some colouring and reading before completing our Maths work. The Year Twos learnt about fact families and Miss Briggs took them outside to draw part-part whole models on the playground with chalk. Then we had snack and break on the playground.

 

When we came in we did some GoNoodle dances, which inspired Zuzanna to challenge Mr Clement to a ‘floss-off’ and Zuzanna won!  Then we did our English work. Some children made beautiful story maps of a letter from Mary Anning whilst others wrote some brilliant paragraphs.

We had our lunch and played some more on the playground before coming in to learn about the Lockdown song – Looking to the Rainbow. After that we played on the field where we practised cartwheels and handstands and played with the OPAL resources.

Monday 4th May 2020

Day 11

Today, we started off by doing some reading while we waited for everyone to come in. We all then had a go at the Maths that our teachers have set for us on e-schools. Some of us needed some help with it. After that, we did some GoNoodle, which everyone including the adults were expected to join in with. By then we were more than ready for our snack!


We went outside for a break and played with the scooters and balls. Some of us played on the climbing wall. After break, we completed the English that had been set for us. Most of us were writing parts of a story. Just before lunch we watched Newsround. We had our lunch and then went out to play for some time.

After lunch we went on the field. We made an obstical course, dens and some of us were really helpful and picked up some small white pots that had blown all over the field and put them into a barrell. When we came back inside, we watched a programme called Deadly 60 about cheetahs.

Friday 1st May 2020

Day 10

We started the day with some quiet colouring while everyone arrived.   

We followed this with Go Noodle to wake us up and get us ready for our learning. Next up, Maths. Most of us were working on Doodle Maths but a few of us had some problem solving to do and then we used Maths Bingo on the iPads.

Following Maths we had our snack then went outside on the trikes and scooters. We did get a bit wet but we enjoyed being outside. When we came back inside, we split into our year groups to do English. KS1 wrote letters to Sunny the Meerkat persuading him to come home, began to write diary entries from the seagulls in ‘The Lighthouse Keepers lunch’ and wrote sentences about their favourite farm animal. This was work from our E-schools pages. KS2 were writing descriptive narratives and the introduction to a non-chronological report.  

We followed this with a little run outside before eating our lunch.

Lunch was eaten in Gems Hall as it was raining quite hard. We then did some colouring and had ‘The Lion King’ video on for a while. We managed to get outside for a while and played with the OPAL equipment on the playground. We had a really good tidy up in that area, stacking tyres and pallets and making sure everything was out of the rain.

Then we came back inside and watched some information about Sir David Attenborough and what an amazing naturist he is. We read through some information and answered questions about his life and achievements.

A quick game of ball and it was home time! Another busy, fun filled day!

Thursday 30th April 2020

Day 9

Today we started off working on the IPads playing maths games or Doddle maths to practise our number skills.

Once everyone had arrived we all took part in Go Noddle, where we danced to The Yeti, How to do the floss and banana, banana, meatball songs. Some of us found it quite tricky to keep up with the dancing!

Our first lesson of the morning was maths. Some of us were learning about 3D shapes and finding halves of shapes and different amounts. We watched a video explaining how to find a half with fish in a tank being sorted in to half.

We also had to solve fraction puzzles and find a missing number to complete our fraction equations.

We then had our snack and played outside until the rain came down. One or two of us got a little wet splashing in the puddles.

After break we had our English lesson where we discussed Captain Tom Moore. We made a word map sharing our knowledge of Captain Tom raising money for the NHS charities by walking 100 laps of his garden. We watched a video of the spitfire aircrafts flying over Captain Tom’s house to celebrate his 100^th birthday. We then went to the table to write Captain Tom a letter to thank him and ask him some questions or make a birthday card. Some of us designed a new medal for Captain Tom.

At lunch time it rained! So we ate our lunch in the hall and had some choosing time playing with Lego and doing some colouring.

After lunch we got out the P.E equipment and made our own assault course using the spring board, benches and hurdles. After a few practises we had a timed race to see who could complete the course the in the fastest time. The quickest time was 24 seconds.
